The Amara Quartet represents the feminine expression of the fado tradition, standing out for its elegance, strength, and beauty.
Their music blends the rich heritage of traditional fado with subtle elements of classical, contemporary, and the vibrant Portuguese folk music.
Alongside the repertoire traditional fado, the quartet brings a selection of original compositions to this concert, showcasing their unique artistic identity.

Tribute to Luís Vaz de Camões
The concert also features a special segment honoring Luís Vaz de Camões (1524–1580), as part of the celebrations marking the fifth centenary of the renowned poet’s birth.
This tribute brings to life musical interpretations of emblematic poems such as "Cara Minha Inimiga", "Que Levas Cruel Morte?", and "Amor, com a esperança já perdida", with original compositions by Joana Almeida, Pedro Martins, and Susana Castro Santos, respectively. The program also includes the iconic song "Lianor", composed by Alain Oulman, highlighting the timelessness of Camões’ work.

AGA Khan Master Musicians
In July 2023, the Amara Quartet took the stage alongside the Aga Khan Master Musicians at the Alfândega do Porto Congress Center and the Ismaili Center in Lisbon. This joyful meeting of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern music with fado was repeated on July 4, 2024, to celebrate Imamat Day, this time featuring the renowned Chinese musician Wu Man on the pipa. The event was graced by the presence of Prince Amyn Aga Khan, Prince Hussain Aga Khan, and his wife, Princess Fareen.
JANUARY 2024 Artistic Residency
In January 2023, Amara Quartet held an artistic residency at the Imaginarius Centro de Criação in Santa Maria da Feira to prepare for their 2024 tour: "Desamor."
The concert starts with "Procura Vã" in the traditional Fado song: "Maria Rita". Lyrics by António Rocha and music by Armando Machado.

It was with great enthusiasm that we prepared for our first performance outside Europe. The 2nd edition of She Arts Festival took place in the beautiful city of Cairo, Egypt.

The Visa For Music Festival, Rabat (MA)
Visa For Music is an international festival whose mission is to present new artistic talents from Africa, the Middle East and Creole territories.
Amara quartet was selected to showcase on November 19, 2022, at the 9th edition of the Festival that took place as usual in Rabat, Morocco.
